Hi! I got a new cover band for some time... (Anyone has any good ideas with the name for a band?) We are not planning to play only DP & Rainbow songs, but we will do them as well. Last rehearsal we recorded some stuff with just a mobile phone ))) Actually you can't here any low frequencies there, because of the built in phone mic... Here it is: www.mediafire.com/?jldcc343mxmfab7www.mediafire.com/?rirdsh3qgn6pshnNo singers were present (they are all sinners ). The sound is not the one i would like to get (hey someone give me a Major!!!). At the rehearsal place they got some russian brand head (in a rack mount) and a horrible Ibanez cab. But still I was using the BSM Mark II Treble Booster and the MTC was there of course....

Excellent band you've put together, really enjoyed those clips and I can just about hear the deeper sounds too through headphones ! More please when you get a chance ! Since you're using strange gear and a phone, maybe you should call yourselves : "Strangeways" ? Or "The Stratcats" would soound cool !

Thanks for your kind words, Tim! Yeah, I'm actually making a plan how to record some stuff that we play at rehearsals with my computer... I've got the Rme fireface 400 since ages and it has the 2 xlr inputs, so i'm planning to mic the bass drum and put another omni directional mic for the room (which will replace the mobile phone ).... also i think will send the bass guitar signal via the di-box link to the instrument input on the RME (will try to do the reamping after with some software), the keyboards should go to the instrumental inputs of the RME .... The problem is that my wife's laptop (I don't have my own ) doesn't have a firewire or expresscard input.... so i'll have to do it on my old mac mini ))))) Yes, the "Strangeways" and "Stratcats" are good names! Tnanks! Will discuss that with the other member of my band. P.S. is there a web site where I can upload my sound file and then give a link here, so that others don't have to save the file on there computer? Instead they could listen to it on that site...

I did as desribed above. Here are some results. Only the bass drum and guitar was miked. Bass guitar and keys went to the line in inputs. Did some reamping on bass guitar with some plugins. www.mediafire.com/?vmo122g5tm5plb7www.mediafire.com/?1i3zk5f07xsbtroForgive me my playing mistakes. I had to setup the whole sound thing and then to record us. I came to a conclusion that a man cannot do two things at the same time )) You either play guitar or be a sound-engineer. If you do both - the quality sucks ) Tim, after a lot of arguments, we decided to call our cover band - Stone Cold ))

I think this recording setup is working really well. I have been following this thread eagerly since I may at some point be recording some band demos too. Hope you're pleased with the results ! By coincidence I am about to do some solo recording (singing ) tests with Rainbow and Aerosmith backing tracks - I might even add a vocal to one of your tracks if I get time ! And Stone Cold is a great band name ! Hope no-one needed medical attention after the arguments over the name though

Thank Tim!
Yeah, this setup is ok i think for the demo to give to the night clubs... That is a rough mix though, our bass player wants to do some more engineering stuff to it (like eqs, compression, maybe some reverb and the mixing of course)... We will see what he can come up with )) And the idea is that we can now record over it the vocals at home... Yes, Tim, please do record some vocals over my tracks - that would be very interesting!!!

Great thanks Stratcat ! Will save at least one of the backing tracks and load it into Cubase on my computer. My voice suits Gillan era Purple better than the deeper Coverdale sound but I will definitely have a try through with it and see what I can do.
I had a covers band last summer and we used to do "New orleans" by Gillan as the last song of the night.
It's a pity you don't live in England it would have been great to sing with you "live" !

Tim, I agree it's a pity! I would love to live in London ))) No, seriously! Hey, you should invite us and we will do a couple of songs with you as a special guest! ) Maybe book some concerts in the local clubs? )) We did some more demos. Here they are: www.mediafire.com/download/faxn4aogy8fo6bw/Demo_Stone_Cold_-_Eagles_-_One_of_this_nights(2).wav - That one recorded throu ENGL amp www.mediafire.com/download/os5chs55c8ya8oy/Demo_Stone_Cold_-_WS_-_Don't_Break_My_Heart_Again_(vocals_high).wav - That one recorded through marshall (not Major though...) amp These are not really Blackmore associated pieces, so Playloud you may remove this post if you consider it not appropriate here. But I thought it might be of interest how the guitar with MTC (and Dawk's assembled pickguard) and BSM MKII Treble Booster can sound in other styles of music... Both songs I use the BSM MkII Treble Booster always on, and used some delay in solo (Strymon pedal) We've had some concerts recently, so the recording on Stormbringer stopped. But I promise we will finish it and I will put it here for you...
