IMO the two first shows were......lacklustre, to say the least!! The Birmingham show was by far the best, but still not a good Rainbow show. Blackmore was unprepeared, the band was underrehearsed and the drummer must be the worst drummer since.....Jesus!! Really, really bad, and if his highness deside to do more shows, get another band!!! Sorry, but that's how I see it:-/ Ronnie Romero? Well, if you like singers who try their best to be someone else, then I guess he's good. I find him to be quite annoying!

I have to disagree with you concerning Ronnie Romero. His name may be not the best choice but his voice is awesome IMO. All in all, the band didn't do enough rehearsals, that's for sure! There are some mistakes that I wouldn't make. And I never ever compared myself to Ritchie Blackmore (I don't have 1 percent of his talent!) but he did some mistakes that caught my attention. I thought "What the hell is he doing? I can play this and HE can't?!" Thank God that we have YouTube and some Live DVDs so we can listen to his better eras ... Well, I was there on Friday in Germany and I mostly missed (also) his agression, his bite... but I also missed his sweet melancholic tone. His slow legato bends that had so much feeling before. He could go from supersweet to super agressive. Not anymore now. It's all a bit flat. I also missed his quick vibration. Not many guitarists have that. I can think of B.B. King and Angus Young, but that's all. Anyway, I enjoyed it out of pure nostalgy. I do understand that he hasn't the same physical possibilities like 20 years ago. And he has not been playing this stuff since 20 years. Besides all this, I still enjoyed the show of course. I also enjoyed that he played many Deep Purple songs. And that he brought his Strat and Aiwa tape recorder, that really surprised me!
By the way, I saw Rainbow with Dio back in 76... that was something else of course.

...I wish I was born a few decades earlier. My favourite concert of that era is the show in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1976. Ritchie's tone is awesome and I really like his solo in "Stargazer". For me, this is his best "Stargazer" solo! Here's the link for the show: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiuURuA3IGEStay tuned guys ritchiefan1982
